Reactive hypoglycemia is when excess carbs cause the body to produce too much insulin. When a person has hypoglycemia they should consider eating smaller meals throughout the day with small amounts of carbohydrates.
What are the signs of Hypoglycemia? Weakness, mental confusion, headache, clammy skin, physical tremors, rapid heart beat, and double or blurred vision.
High Protein Snack Ideas For Reactive Hypoglycemia
Graham crackers with peanut butter.
Apple or banana slices with peanut butter.
Celery and peanut butter.
Part-skim cheese and crackers.
Nuts and raisins (small amounts).
Low-fat cottage cheese with fruit.
Half a sandwich (meat, peanut butter, or cheese)
Hard-cooked eggs or hot cereal with melted peanut butter.
Questions to ask your doctor and or diabetic health specialists. What if the individual is up in the middle of the night and hasn't eaten a snack? Can they have a snack if they have any of the symptoms. How often should regular snacks be scheduled after regular meals?
